Northeast Wyoming is our 'home on the range'.    We live on the rolling plains of the Thunder Basin National Grasslands, where the Black Hills spill onto the prairie...the place where millions of buffalo once roamed. We raise beef cattle and a few Morgan Horses, plus we own a few Quarter Horses. Our horses are range-raised but we handle the foals early and imprint them when possible. We breed Morgans with this specialty in mind: Do anything anywhere, anytime. We sell primarily young stock.  (Above: 2007 palomino filly, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon. Below: 2002 mare, Roseta Sage LR)

       Proven Bloodlines ... Past & Present.   Our breeding program focuses on 'foundation' bloodlines, those of the U.S. Remount, the Western Working Family and other tried & true  bloodlines - all of which make the legendary Morgan of yesteryear available today. Practical and aesthetic qualities bred for in the past are alive & well in today's classic Morgan. They're a pleasure to train and a friend in your reins.  'Morganess' is deeper than appearance.  The Morgan Horse really is different from other breeds in that most of them have a strong affinity for people. That is the real magic, the inner horse and that is where the legend really began.

                 Our stallion ... ML Meadowlark Jazzspur                  (Osirus x Apple Pi Jolee Blanc). (Jazz's portrait was done by Tami Bauer and is at the top of this web page.)  It's safe to say that 'Jazz'  is the only Morgan stallion that has classical dressage training and drags calves to the branding fire. Plus, He's done all forms of ranch work, he can head or heel in team roping, he's been in several parades and can be ridden in a halter with a row of children on him bareback.  Jazz stands an honest 16.hh barefoot, weighing about 1,375 pounds. He's  BIG and built to work but even so, he's an elegant horse.  Intelligent, laid-back, and yet there is fire when you ask for it.  He has a ground covering trot and slips easily into a rolling canter.  Jazz sires Morgans with his own traditional virtues and he adds size to the equation.   See the four photos of Jazz below - conformation photo; under Jenny Bartel after being in training with Eitan Beth-Halachmy; dragging calves to the branding fire here at home - Lynn Jespersen up; in a relaxed pose at the arena after roping practice.   Jazz was bred by my dear friend Linnea Sidi  (Meadowlark Morgans, Loveland, CO) - see link at lower left. Jazz will be standing there for 2008 and he may be available by shipped semen. Stud fee: Private treaty.

 We place great emphasis on mares.   Our mares are proven saddle horses on the ranch before they're promoted to broodmare status.Our mares are educated ladies that have worked for a living. We've sacrificed the time it takes to 'make a horse'  so that we can breed a better horse. Eliminating a lot of  the guesswork in breeding begins with knowing the horse from the inside out and that means one thing: Work.  As far as we're concerned, the only kind of horse to own is an honest one without excuses. To quote a friend, "I've spent most of my money on good horses and the rest I just wasted."  Our mares by name are:  Apple Pi Dolly Rose, Apple Pi Bluebelle, Homestead Chicklette, Roseta Sage LR, Bahai Belle LR, Lady Warhawk, Camas Mist Lia.

   Below: Apple Pi Bluebelle (Apple Pi Bubba Blue x Greentree Partytime) - with Shery's father, Vern Hendricks. Bluebelle is a 'salt of the earth' horse. She's never taken a step back from anything in all of her 17 years. Smooth, steady minded, 15.1 hh.

  Below: Apple Pi Dolly Rose (Triton Dallas x Royal Rambling Rose) - my foundation mare. Her heart takes up most of the room inside her 14.2 frame. She thinks she's 10 feet tall and bulletproof.  To sum up a description of her and make a very long story short: 'Dolly' Is The Best Horse In The Universe!  She rides & drives and has done everything I've ever asked of her. She's sweet, opinionated and she's got fire when you want it and a cool head when you need it. She will go to war with a nasty cow and yet she'll give a tiny child a safe ride on the ranch. She's now 17 and still has plenty of starch left in her petticoat!!

 We enjoy a continuing relationship with our buyers.   We encourage potential buyers to contact others who own horses we've raised. Disposition is our first priority while quality is the other priority.  Depth and beauty will take you anywhere you want to go In Style.  Our horses and all good Morgans have the temperament and athletic ability to do just about everything and do it all well.  We're especially pleased when some of our horses find new homes with reputable Morgan farms because it means good Morgans will be available in the future.  It's true that "you can't take it with you"...but we can preserve the best we have in the here & now so that those who come after us will be able to enjoy the same kind of Morgan that we are fortunate to hang a bridle on.

   Above: Jingling Spurs LR, 2002 black chestnut stallion (ML Meadowlark Jazz Spur x Wyodak Hi Meadow Model). Owned by  Kim and Steve Viker - Genetic Resources, MN. Spur's foals are now on the ground. Viker's also own his full sister, Hi Meadow Jazzmyn.

2007-08  $ales...

Sold - Below:  Jo Mora Jazz LR - 07 colt. SPECTACULAR chestnut colt by 'Jazz' x Wyodak Hi Meadow Model.  If I never bred another foal, I could stop with him and feel that I've achieved my goal as a breeder. He is as good as I can breed or will ever breed. He will be making his home at AFS Morgans, with the Sears Family right here in Wyoming. Look for his offspring in years to come.

                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  Sold - Below:  Cool Water LR - 07 chestnut colt by Jazz x Apple Pi Dolly Rose.  Cool Water LR couldn't have a better fitting name; he's a full brother to 'Rosey'. This is THE  'golden cross'  for 'All Things Morgan'.  He's the kind of horse that will ruin you for owning anything else and anything less. He and JJ will both find their new home with the Sears Family, WY. Cool Water is to be Merideth's 'steady eddy' saddlehorse. I've no doubt that he will be.
                                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~                                                                                   Sold - Below: Bermeja Secora LR, 2005 chestnut filly (ML Meadowlark Jazz Spur x Penrose Coco Dawn). Secora is a very feminine filly, yet she has plenty of substance. Beauty, balancem bloodlines...she's got it all. Secora's pedigree is studded with rare genetic gemstones. Secora's new home will be with Karleen Gose - Inyan Kara Morgans, WY/SD.

                                    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Sold - Below: Puma Sabrina LR, 2005 liver chestnut filly (ML Meadowlark Jazz Spur x Wyodak Hi Meadow Model). Sabrina is a unique blend of size and beauty. She'll stand about 15.3 and has a  beautifully sculpted head and she's as correct as can be.  Her 'baby' full brother is listed above ('JJ') and her older full brother is shown below (Jingling Spurs LR).  Sabrina moves like a cloud and she would be elegant in both western tack and sporthorse 'attire'. Her athletic ability and wonderful bloodlines will be put to good use in a land FAR away from Wyoming. Sabrina will be traveling abroad to her new home in Sweden. Her owner, Anneli Satter-Wangenfors, is excited to add Sabrina to their breeding program and we're so pleased she did.
   Below are more horses...some we own, some we've bred, sold and sent on to new homes.
       Below:  Chapero LR, 2005 dark red chestnut stallion -           (ML Meadowlark Jazz Spur x Pacific High Tide). "Chaps" is now owned by Bob and Donna Barrett, Trailhead Morgans, WY. Below photo was taken in 2007 when he was 2. "Chaps" will  join a couple of his brothers that stand 16.hh and over. He's very quiet, kind as a kitten and every inch a stallion in appearance. He's slated for stud duties when he comes of age. Chaps nicely illustrates that Jazz consistently produces size with beauty. I look forward to seeing  what Chaps does for Trailhead Morgans in the years to come.
      Below: HMSTD Chicklette ( 2J Willy's Cherokee x 2J Miss Miriah) - 5 yr old buckskin mare, standing patiently at the trailer during a branding. Chickie came to us as a yearling from Homestead Morgans in Canada. She was so easy to train, 'rock steady' under saddle from the very first ride.  She just gets better every year. I'm thrilled with the palomino filly she gave me this year but I so look forward to putting Chickie back to work this Spring. The best mares to breed are the best ones to ride!  *See her 07 palomino filly sired by Jazz - also below.
    Above: Our very first 'colorful' foal - Chickie's 07 palomino filly, named 'She Wore A Yellow Ribbon'. Ribbon is a keeper! Another photo of her is located near the top of this page.
                                   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

        Below: Bahai Belle LR, 2002 homebred bay mare -                  (ML Meadowlark Jazz Spur x Apple Pi Bluebelle). "Jingles" stands 15.2hh and has a laid-back attitude. She's a BIG mare, smooth to ride and she likes working cattle (as you can see below). We need horses that we can rely on - sensible in all situations. Jingles fills every corner of that, just like her mother before her - 'Bluebelle'.

   Below: SOLD to Cheri Costa, CA. Roseta Sage LR, 2002 homebred chestnut mare (Jazz x Dolly). "Rosey" stands 14.2. She posesses, in spades, those Morgan virtues that come from the inside. Rosey and Shery were sorting heiffers below. Rosey and her new owner, Cheri, will be trail-riding and helping family with their cattle operation.

Below: Camas Mist Lia, 2002 sorrel mare (Liz's Black Hawk x Sagewood's Ruby). I found out about Lia's unfortunate circumstances after she was sold as  a weanling. She was 9 months old and weighed 400 pounds. She looked like there was little hope for her survival but TLC worked. She spent the next few years catching up. She'll be started under saddle soon! Kathy Clemens of Idaho bred Lia and we're so pleased to have Kathy's breeding (Bar J3 Ranch). Lia is one the kindest and most interactive horses I've been around. She has such a vivacious spirit which undoubtedly helped her survive abusive neglect. She carries some extremely rare bloodlines and impressive cutting horse credentials through her grandsire, Liz's Blackjack - a many times champion in Open cutting competition throughout the Northwest.

Below: 2 photos of Rio Spurs & Roses (ML Meadowlark Jazz Spur x Scarlet Wild Rose). 2001 gelding owned by Cathy Edens, KY. Rio is Cathy's trusty trail-horse and he's currently in training so they can compete in carriage driving.

~~~~~~~~~~~
 Below: AFS Jazzy Tomcat (ML Meadowlark Jazzspur x RG Cattle Ann), 2002 gelding, bred by AFS Morgans, WY. Tomcat is a Jazz son and to date, his largest offspring, standing an honest 17.hh - and YES, that is accurate!  Tomcat is owned by Katrina Chevertte, CA. They're working on his future career in cross -country/eventing. Again, as in the case with Rio, above, the trainer working with Katrina offered to buy Tomcat and she's a die-hard Warmblood owner/trainer. Comments like that are apples of gold on a silver platter.
Below:  Best's Rembrandt (ML Meadowlark Jazzspur x Penrose Coco Dawn), 06 chestnut stallion, owned by Brian and Beth Binion - Best Morgans, OK. 'Remmie' is thus far, the colt that most strongly resembles his sire but he also got an extra dose of 'pretty'.  He's hangin' out and growing up and if all goes according to plan, he'll get his chance in the breeding shed. He is a full brother to Bermeja Secora LR - above. Remmie should be a strong producer. His pedigree is a Who's Who in foundation bloodlines...working horses on the ranch as well as champions in the showring.
     Below: After Dark Yukon Jazz - 06 palomino stallion, a 'Jazz' son bred by Shirley Champion (Bit By Bit Farms, OR).  He is pictured here as a yearling with Shirley (who bred him) in his first show in which he won Champion Stallion in a large class. Plans for him include stallion duties and being shown. 'Yukon Jazz' is proudly owned by Mike and Barbara Weinkauf (Snowbound Morgans, OR).
Shiloh was 3 and their daughter had begun to train him herself.
      Below: AFS Ragtime Melody (ML Meadowlark Jazzspur x Tyrstar), 01 chestnut Jazz daughter, bred and owned by Tony and Merideth Sears - AFS Morgans, WY. Melody serves as a family saddlehorse when working cattle, trail riding and camping; shown below with Andy Sears onboard.
